You can achieve a whiter smile at home.
Dr Howard performs a variety of cosmetic procedures incorporating a wholistic framework. An example of this is using metal free crown and bridges to change the shape/colour of teeth as per the patient’s cosmetic desire whilst avoiding using metals in the mouth. This prevents provoking any galvanic effects if there are no existing metal restorations.
This is a very popular way to take 10-20 years off the appearance of your teeth. The Dentist prescribed products use high concentration of oxygen to bleach coloured organic molecules from the tooth surface.
Please note that no chlorinated bleaches are used. To the best of our knowledge the whitening agents break down to oxygen, water, urea and potassium nitrate. There is also some glycol.
Biologically I am mostly happy to use these materials. We have had some chemically sensitive patients who we had tested and did not react favourably to the ingredients and so we did not pursue whitening. We have also had several patients who initially tested poorly to the whitening agent but subsequent to amalgam removal tested compatible and therefore could proceed with whitening.
